Hello Fiona,
I am from Malaysia and currently looking and reserching at vanilla cultivation.
I am a private individual and trying to secure some land for vanilla cultivation.

I am yet to find a site which has financial details of vanilla plantation need to know how viable is this business.

I short i need advise.

Hi Alistar
I think you are right – vanilla has a much greater range than is generally suggested, especially in frost-free areas; however, it is not necessarily viable commercially to grow outside the tropics.

Drop in if you are up this way and we could compare notes. How many plants do you have?

I have been growing vanilla in southeast Queensland for over eight years now and doing very well. ” They ” say its too cold to grow vanilla beans in this area of Queensland. My last crop produced over 400 beans.

I have recently sold a business here in Coffs Harbour and now I am looking to grow vanilla beans.

It’s something we looked at years ago and after contacting Dept of Ag we realised
that the climate here in Coffs is not hot enough in summer and too cold in winter.

I would love to see the outcome of Fiona’s first crop this year.

I will certainly be looking at land in far North Queensland.
