Ministry to revamp vanilla farming in Fiji

Vanilla farming is a very profitable crop that has great potential and the Ministry of Agriculture is looking at revamping vanilla farming in Fiji.

Speaking to the Department of Information, Minister for Agriculture & Primary Industries, Jainend Kumar said Fiji has huge potential in vanilla farming.

“We are not going to focus too much on the new crops but rather revamp the existing crops. As if we bring in any new crops it can be risky because we would know whether it would be profitable or not.

“That’s why we are making concerted efforts to expand the vanilla farming in Fiji and farmers to benefit from it,” said Mr. Kumar.
